Fresh from the success of November’s dramatic gospel play, ‘God’s Child,’ KreAtiv Inergy is moving forward with the company’s latest creative projects: writing a two-person show to be toured around the region, publishing their fourth poetry book, and preparing for the Mother’s Day Weekend opening of Mark-Anthony’s original and powerful drama, Determined to Live, Determined to Love.
‘It’s a very exciting time,’ Hines says, ‘and life is a gift!’ His newest poetry book, and his first of an inspirational nature, Faith, Hope, & Charity is a 40-page inspirational jewel, full of strong emotion, real-world, everyday situations, and the hopes and fears of everyday man. Subtitled ‘Messages of Hope In A World of Change,’ the poet waxes about how God is the mover and shaker of us all.
‘I’m looking forward to participating in the Fourth Annual Hampton B. Allen Literary Festival in Wadesboro, North Carolina in two weeks, and believe that this new book will definitely strike an emotional cord with readers.’
Auditions for Determined to Live, Determined to Love, will take place at New Life Presbyterian Church, located at 6600 Old National Highway, College Park, GA. 30349 on Thursday, January 27 at 7pm, and Saturday, January 29 at 10am. Call backs will take place on Monday, January 31 at 7pm. Those interested do not need prepared material, resumes, or headshots. Just bring YOU, Hines said. The play is scheduled to open Mother’s Day Weekend.
The three-act drama focuses on one woman’s determination to end a 40-year cycle of familial abuse, and, according to Mark-Anthony, ‘Is needed, timely, and, without question, will stir debate, but also bring healing. Looking focused, ebullient, and exuding an almost hypnotic energy, the writer/director said that domestic abuse, today, is still one of the most crippling issues in today’s society, tearing at the very fabric of relationships and families. ‘ I don’t think that anyone who sees this play will walk away from it without seeing themselves or someone they know. My hope is that it will bring attention to domestic abuse, help us acknowledge its damagings effects, and also create a dialogue for instituting change.’
