How would you describe your personal style?
I would have to say my personal style is classic with a modern take. I like to pair unexpected pieces together to create a unique look. When I lived in Los Angeles, I was constantly around people that dressed to stand out. I think some of the carefree, dressing philosophy followed me back to Birmingham. I love finding vintage pieces that I can incorporate into my outfits and set me apart from a crowd.
What spring trend are you most excited about?
I’m really excited about the monotone trend that is coming for spring. I think neutral colors can be very flattering, especially on tan skin. Monotones also create a great palette to add bold accessories which can easily transition your look from day to night.
What do you consider the most important fashion accessory?
A bold statement piece that is unique to you! I have a watch of my Grandfather’s that I had size down to fit me. It’s a cool vintage piece, but also works as a trend because the oversized boyfriend watch is such a popular jewelry style right now.
Are there any fashion “rules” that you don’t agree with?
Actually, yes! I hate the stigma that women in professional settings feel that they must dress in a masculine way to gain respect. Working in a male dominated industry, I see that women try to dress to blend in all the time. I think if you would regularly dress trendy and chic, do it at work! Being yourself and dressing how you feel most comfortable will gain you even more respect because you are telling everyone that you are confident in yourself.
Shoes or handbags?
SHOES! I think with handbags you can have a few and rotate them out and carry them for any occasion. Shoes on the other hand set the tone of your outfit. If I’m out and about during the day, flats are the perfect shoe choice. If I have dinner plans at night, putting on a pair of heels instantly dresses up my outfit. I’m also a little on the short side, so heels add a few more inches and elongates my legs!
Do you have any fashion advice you could give us?
Don’t be afraid to express yourself in the way you dress. Wear what makes you comfortable and gives you the most confidence. I really believe that the girl in a crowd who is confident in herself, is always the girl who lights up the room!
