Most men (if they are gentlemen) will come to your home and pick you up for dates. For most women, we tend to run a little behind schedule which leads to your date waiting in your home. So as they are waiting, some might gander upon what things you keep in your home. He will sit on your furniture; look at your pictures, books and electronics. You might have certain things that reveal bad things and good things about you. So what does your home reveal about your personality to your date before you even step out of the door? Read below to make your living space shine.
The biggest thing that your date would notice walking in the door is if your place is neat and orderly or if he steped into a hurricane that just hit your home. Make sure before you start getting ready for your date that when he walks in the door you don’t have last week Doritos bag hanging out with your underwear on the floor. Take the time to pick up, vacuum, and dust your apartment. You also don’t want to be the opposite and have everything so perfect and orderly that your date won’t even feel comfortable. You don’t want him to feel afraid to sit down on your couch waiting or make him feel like he’s at a pristine museum where you’re afraid to touch anything. A great tip: Do not clean your bedroom in the first few dates. It will resist the temptation of bringing him home into your bedroom after the dates.
Second: Your personality
A home with white cold walls and no personality will show that you are the same: a person with no personality. That is the last thing you want your date to think. So show off your personal style. If you love vintage style, find some awesome and interesting pieces of furniture at antique stores (or for a savvy buyer, hit up the thrift stores and restore pieces for a lot less money) or find some cool pieces of art or a blanket from your grandma and style it up. If you are more into the modern style, replace your old kitchen cabinet knobs for something sleeker or buy a local piece of modern art. One of the cheapest ways to show your personality is through paint. So get rid of those white walls and head down to your local paint store like Sherman Williams in Plantationoff of University Dr.and find a color that you and your living room would love.
Third: Keep a good balance
So now your place is organized and you got your own style going on. But if you have a pile of stuffed animals on the couch or a stack of dating self help books on your shelf, your date might run for the door. Even if you live by yourself or with a bunch of girls, it’s good to have a touch of masculinity in your home just for balance. So keep your books gender neutral and keep fluffy the stuffed kitty in its own special spot in your closet. Keep the drunken night pictures safe in an album and trade for some classy ones of you and your friends for frames (black and white looks more interesting and is more flattering). When looking for furniture, keep in mind a simple color and pattern such as navy blue and white stripes, brown leather or canvas. These types of pieces will go with almost everything, keep your home in good balance, and be stylish for years to come.
