MONARCH is a rock band whose songs are something you can sway too, hypnotized by the catchy guitar (Kevin Hawkins, Ethan Garrido) and impressive drum beats (Chris Garrido). Not to mention the lure of Aaron Pulsipher’s powerful, spellbinding vocals. The bass lines (Josh Densley) deserve honorable mention as well. Each sound is well put together and will pull you in.
Some of the songs are fairly slow paced but all of them are hauntingly alluring and in an inexplicably enjoyable way. Some local bands have a certain, unprofessional sound to them, whereas this is one band that certainly does not. Listening to their CD doesn’t evoke thoughts of, ‘what bar was this purchased/given at?’ But more, ‘what music shop can this be purchased at?’ Live, they bring out the excitement as all of what their music is, is put in front of your face and right before your ears. The song, ‘Scary Head Dreams’ has a particular morose sound and message. Or feast your ears on ‘Death Grenades.’
Aaron is rocking out onstage when he isn’t enchanting the crowd with lyrics. Kevin will jump around a bit as he thrills all, with the sound and look of his rad guitar. Each member possesses an abundant amount of talent and together they create the dark, enthralling, vortex of cunningly manipulated sound that is MONARCH. Monarch will be releasing their new CD at Bar Deluxe (668 South State Street) on March 11th. Also playing: Huldra and a band from Seattle, Rishloo. This will be a big show, tickets can be purchased from the band for $5.
