Back in ancient times, 1983, there existed a cartoon the likes of which the world had never seen before. It was called, “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”. This was a cultural phenomenon! The show was a tremendous hit and spawned a series of very popular and highly collectible action figure lines. Fast forward 17 years to the year 2000 and Wal-Mart carried a line of Commemorative Masters of the Universe characters that were produced explicitly for the adult collector. Then they followed up with another reissued set of characters starting in 2008.
Just when you thought that there couldn’t be anything to look forward to from this line of action figures, Mattel has announced their schedule of release dates for reissued and new characters for 2011. January will be the characters Vikor, Goddess, Palace Guards, and Castle Grayskull stands. In February it will be characters Bow, Shadow Beast, Keldor, Tytus, Preternia He-Man(not for sale), and a map of Etheria(not for sale). March will bring characters King Hsss, Princess Adora, Count Marzo, and Battle Armor Skeletor. The month of April will yield the characters Sy-Klone, Panthor, Moss Man, and a Weapons Rack. May should be a very exciting month because they announced that there was going to be a secret character and it was revealed in ToyFare Magazine that the character was Catra. Also being issued in May are the characters Whiplash and Stratos. The characters that they have on tap for release in June will be revealed at the February 13th New York Toy Fair between 3 and 6 pm.
This is a very exciting time for action figure collectors and it sounds like there are going to be some more good things coming down the wire in the coming months. So stay tuned to this page for any and all things action figure related. Remember, they are not “dolls”, they are ACTION FIGURES!!!
