.) Perry Central (20-5) – The Commodores took a loss on the road to the Bell County Bobcats but it simply wasn’t enough to drop them in the polls. If you look at the body of work over the whole season you simply can’t make a case for anyone else to close the season at number one.
.) Buckhorn (19-6) – The Buckhorn Wildcats finish the season on a 5-game win streak to make a push for second place. This sets up a first round matchup against the Perry Central Commodores in the 54th District between the top 2 teams in the mountains.
.) Betsy Layne (22-6) – The Bobcats suffered a loss to Pike Central a week ago but managed to win out after the upset. The All-A State Champs come in at number three on the final poll.
.) Clay County (19-9) – The Tigers came in with high hopes this season but were inconsistent at times. Expect Clay County to get it all together this postseason. They beat some great teams in the Mountain Classic this year and are capable of beating anyone on a given night.
.) Bell County (17-6) – Bell ends the season on a great note. They get back-to-back wins against Perry Central and Barbourville and follow it up with a 20-point win on senior night. The Bobcats will be a top contender in the 13th Region.
.) Harlan County (19-8) – The Black Bears have a handful of big wins and some puzzling losses. They are a dark horse candidate to take the 13th.
.) Hazard (15-10) – Hazard has struggled mightily this year. They have several high points with a runner-up finish in the Mountain Classic, the 14th Region All-A title and a few good wins, but went 2-4 down the stretch and are struggling to win games. One thing’s for sure, Coach Holland will have his boys ready to host the 14th Region Tourney.
.) Letcher Central (19-10) – The Cougars started off strong, hit a rough patch, but recovered late and took the top seed in the 53rd. Letcher is up against strong competition but they have the talent to make a deep run in the 14th.
.) Corbin (20-6) – Corbin took a narrow loss on the Black Bears’ home court this week but managed to hit the 20 win mark this season. They haven’t fared well against tough competition but have proven they are very capable of winning.
.) Pikeville (19-7) – Pikeville drops one of two in the final week and drop to the last spot in the top ten. They have played very well against the competition in the 15th Region. The 15th is considerably down but there are a lot of teams capable of taking the title.
