A new series pilot of the iconic DC Comics character Wonder Woman portrays her as a vigilante crime fighter in Los Angeles but she is also a successful corporate executive and modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life. David Kelley and Bill D’Elia (“Boston Legal,” “The Practice”) are the executive producers. The pilot was written by Kelley (“Boston Legal,” “Ally McBeal,” NBC’s “Harry’s Law”) and will be directed by Jeffrey Reiner (NBC’s “The Event”). “Wonder Woman” is from David E Kelley Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
Adrianne Palicki will star in the title role of “Wonder Woman,” Palicki, who appeared as Tyra Collete in NBC’s acclaimed “Friday Night Lights,” will star in the upcoming feature-film remake of “Red Dawn.” She also starred in the horror film “Breaking the Girl” and in the recent series “Lone Star.”
Ok call me old fashioned but why does she have to be a ‘modern woman and corporate executive’? So what we get is another shlock TV version of an iconic figure because the writer and producer can’t wrap their narrow minds around what the character is. I’m generally a big fan of David Kelly but I can’t see this doing justice to the character. Why not use the Manhunter DC Character who already is/was a ‘modern woman and District Attorney’ in Los Angeles? Where is the rich Amazon heritage and mission to Man’s World of the character? Is she even an Amazon? If the answer is “NO!” then it isn’t really Wonder Woman and the concept needs to be reworked. Not using the core elements of the character means we go back to the crappy ABC movie of the week with Cathy Lee Crosby as Wonder Woman or Superman coming from Hoboken instead of Krypton.
Wonder Woman, if the pilot is picked, would air nationwide and on local Atlanta station affiliates.
