There are some things confusing about living here. Some historian probably has this one down, but does anyone else really know what is means to reside in what is proclaimed the most livable city? Anyone else ever get a call from out of town friends on the 101 passing the ‘Scottsdale – Next 15 Exits’ sign asking you to narrow it down a bit for them?
Let’s talk about what isn’t confusing about Scottsdale and that is finding good buys on wine. There are so many wines for under $15 that can blind taste test with the best of them.
Here is another great wine that was found for about $12. This Shiraz is from the McLaren Vale region of Southern Australia. It is made from 100% Shiraz and is aged in 50% New French Oak Barrels. They pull the grapes from different locations within the Vale that are only miles apart but have such different climates that the flavors are very complex when combined. This wine packs a punch with an alcohol content of 14.9%.
Layer Cake – 2009 Shiraz Southern Australia
The winemaker’s grandfather said that the soil in which the vines lived was a layer cake. The wine, if properly made, was like a great layer cake…full of fruit, mocha, chocolate, and hints of spice…always rich. This wine is perfect for someone who likes a balance of fruit and oak. It is full of blackberry, cherry and plum that blends well with a melody of spices and mocha.
The grandfather also said to never pass up a good layer cake. This one is no exception.
