Last week the Arizona Senate voted “NO” on five illegal immigration bills that “crashed and burned” for the Maverick of illegal immigration and the President of the Senate, Senator Russell Pearce. For the last several months, Mothers Against Illegal Amnesty’s President, Michelle Dallacroce has been attempting to reach out and meet with Senator Pearce to discuss the flaws in one specific bill, the bill concerning the 14th Amendment. More specifically, citizenship. Russell Pearce, refused to discuss, listen or even give the time of day to any notion that there could be any flaw in the logic of the professed experts whose opinion he soley relied upon.
Mothers Against Illegal Amnesty, formerly Mothers Against Illegal Aliens has been championing “birthright citizenship” before it was popular, over a half a decade ago. Hailing from the Great State of Arizona, this grassroots organization honed in on aspects of this issue which would have actually “helped” get the votes to pass, but Senator Pearce was not interested.
No doubt most every American and Arizona resident wanted these Bills to pass. That isn’t rocket science. And there is no doubt that many people are mad as hell and are screaming from their computers today saying that there are Republicans who voted “NO” on these bills and they are traitors! But hold on a minute. Really?
In this article, I want to focus on but ONE of those bills that were voted down yesterday. That is the birthright citizenship bills which there were two votes on such bills. Both going down in defeat! I want to praise those who “had the courage” to stand up against a bill that was not wrong in it’s ideology….one that was FLAWED and far from ready to be delivered. There were so many glaring Constitutional flaws in those two bills, yet Russell Pearce, as I stated above, was unwilling to listen to other reasonable arguments or allow any additional input from anyone other than his so called “experts” who had missed valuable angles of the bill which made it FLAWED and unConstitutional from the beginning!
There can be no doubt that Mothers Against Illegal Amnesty’s entire mission has been to see an end put to this practice of giving automatic citizenship to illegal alien BABY’s, called Amnesty Babies f/k/a Anchor Babies.
So you must ask yourself, if Mothers Against Illegal Amnesty is standing up against a bill that is directly related to everything it has fought for or against, then MAYBE there is something there they don’t want you don’t see!
Let’s put it another way.
Let’s say these bills consisted in their entirety of a beautiful new car, (of your choice). And each bill, alone, represented different components of that vehicle to make it run. IF YOU WERE MISSING OR HAD DEFECTIVE PARTS in the vehicle, would you still want that car?
Let me say it this way.
This is YOUR FIRST NEW CAR! This particular bill concerning birthright citizenship was that car! It was shiny and new and it looked great from the outside! You ALL WANTED IT AND YOU WANTED TO DRIVE IT OFF THE LOT!
As excited about it as you are, your father, a mechanic by trade comes with you to inspect this new purchase, however he finds fundemental problems with this new car.
He sees problems that YOU DON’T! He takes you and your wishes of getting that car home to search ANOTHER DAY! You are mad! YOU don’t understand why! YOU WANTED IT! It looked beautiful from the outside!
That was this Bill.
You didn’t see the LEMON in THAT CAR!
This bill was a “LEMON” and it was going to be problems and it was never going to pass the test of time! And so we must begin the process of undoing the practical and the political damage that self-rightious and self-serving arrogance created and caused as it relates to the pursuit of legislation that meets the 5 standards associated with a Constitutional test.
It is tragically wrong for any elected official who hold legislative authority to pursue an objective with the sole intent of passing a Bill that he/she declares will ultimately go to the Supreme Court. Such ideology defeats the whole purpose of our democratic process and in the end, the reasons behind our Republic.
Bills should not be passed out of any Legislature unless they have already met the challenges of being Constitutional before they leave the Committee’s from which they are spawned. In the case of the AZ Birthright Citizenship Bill, the process of drafting the legislation was flawed. So-called experts made every attempt to redefine what “natural born and naturalized” citizenship meant with a host of other interpretations that were wholly offensive to the Constitutional standards set forth by our founders and by the authors of the 14th Amendment.
No legislation should be sold on the premise that “we will find out what’s in it after we pass the Bill”, or under the promise that “we know it will be going to the Supreme Court.”
Such Nancy Pelosi mentality only serves to defeat the arguments of the Bill’s sponsors and supporters and once defeated, as in this case….the results lends a false sense of bravado to those who would oppose any bill on partisan or ideological grounds.
March 17th, 2011 was a day for celebration for those who will never embrace our Constitution or pay any allegiance or show any loyalty to the United States.
Those who embrace the basic tenets of our Nation know full well that we are but guardians of this Republic and the traditions and values that were born by the sacrifice and blood of this nations first patriarchs.
In cases such as what we have seen in the recent past, we cannot allow ourselves to pursue legislation on the “fast track” soley to say that we have done something, rather we must pursue it with a sense of critical urgency that strengthens that which we already cherish.
The Pearce Bills failed because they all lacked that sense of critical urgency. Those who voted in favor of the Constitution are the real hero’s in this unfortunate chain of events
