New York Times bestselling author of hot, steamy romances, Brenda Jackson will be in town Saturday, March 12, 2011, from 4-6pm at The Dock Bookshop promoting her latest book, A Silken Thread.
“New York Times”-bestselling author Jackson presents an unforgettable story of relationships at their most complex, and of how hard it can be to choose between living separate lives–or holding fast when love hands by a silken thread. ~Borders title review
How do you save a love that hangs by a silken thread? For Erica Sanders, finding a soul mate was the easy part. Brian Lawson is the man she wants, and everyone agrees they’re the ideal couple. Almost everyone. The one exception is Erica’s mother, Karen, who prefers her daughter marry another man. Karen even hires a private detective to investigate Brian, but the truth he uncovers is the last thing she expected-a devastating betrayal that rips both families apart.
Convinced that her relationship can’t be salvaged, Erica ends her engagement. Yet she has lingering doubts over her decision, especially once Brian’s attractive single neighbor starts pursuing him. A chance meeting proves that the passion between Brian and Erica hasn’t dimmed-but neither has the determination of others to keep them apart, or the shocking lengths Karen will go to in order to undermine her daughter’s relationship.
As secrets old and new are revealed, Erica and Brian find themselves caught between the bonds of the past and an uncertain future, each making painful discoveries about who to believe and trust. Masterfully told and laced with the sensuality and drama that Brenda Jackson does best, this is an unforgettable story of relationships at their most complex, and how hard it can be to choose between living separate lives-or holding fast when love hangs by a silken thread.
A Jacksonville, Florida, native and eternal romantic, Jackson says she still wears her going-steady ring her husband gave her when dating. She wrote her books by hand at first for fellow classmates and now is a proud member of the First Coast Chapter of the Romance Writers of America (RWA).
Jackson’s first book, Tonight and Forever, introduced the Madaris family and became a huge success with publisher Kensington Arabesque. Since then, she’s introduced the Bennetts, the Westmorelands, the Savoys, and the Steeles. Jackson says she loves writing connecting stories and she has a list of how her books connect in her various family sagas on her website.
Jackson has received numerous awards and trail-blazing accomplishments. She was the first African-American author to publish with Harlequin/Silhouette Desire and the first African-American romance author to make USA Today’s bestseller list and the New York Times bestseller list for series romance genres.
Jackson has written for several publishers but now writes for Harlequin exclusively. Brenda Jackson has published over 70 novels, including the Madaris Family series, the Westmorelands, and the Steeles and books such as Bachelor Unleashed, The Playa’s Handbook, What a Westmoreland Wants, Ties That Bind, and Tonight and Forever.
