In an effort to remain progressive, The Oakland County Government official website announced their “Ideas Project“. Ideas Project is a featured on their website as tool to receive ideas and suggestions from the citizens of Oakland County. I’ve already checked it out and the Ideas Project feature is extremely easy to use.
I applaud the “suggestions box” format of Ideas Project as county officials seem genuinely interested to use the community suggestions in upcoming discussions and votes. It’s easy to criticize government. Let’s see if, as citizens, we can come up with ways to improve the high quality of living in Oakland County. I hope the feature gets genuine use and doesn’t quickly dissolve into a public complaint forum similar to some news website forums.

Here’s the official announcement from Oak.Gov:
Dear Oakland County Subscriber:
We’d like to introduce you to a new website feature called the “Ideas Project” that gives you the power to interact more directly with Oakland County Government than ever before. It’s a tool that uses ‘crowdsourcing’ technology and it allows the public to submit new ideas to us about how to make Oakland County an even better place to live, work, play, and do business. You can even vote on ideas submitted by other people to let us know which are your favorites. Department representatives will be reviewing ideas regularly and providing updates on the status of any new submissions.
Please take a moment to visit http://oakgov.ideascale.com to help us build the momentum! The more ideas we get, the more people will think of even more suggestions — and this will help us grow this new initiative that we think will help us find the best and brightest ideas in our community.
Thank you for your help, and we can’t wait to hear from you!
This service is provided to you at no charge by Oakland County, Michigan.
