We can be grateful to God for being alive; exuberantly thanking and praising Him. But at the end of the day, there’s a big difference between being grateful and feeling loved. The truth is, for most of my life — even though I went to church and the whole nine yards — I loved God in the same way that I felt He loved me: generically. I was grateful that He created me … sent Jesus … helped me out …blah blah blah. But I never thought of God in the sense of Him knowing me specifically — as in Him wanting to be in an everyday, one-on-one relationship with me. As human beings, the notion of other human beings loving us and liking us as individuals in spite of our flaws and quirks, is a normal desire or expectation. But the idea of God actually loving us and liking us as individuals, also in spite of our flaws and quirks, almost seems blasphemous or presumptuous to many of us. However, it’s neither of the sort – and yes He does.
There are many layers to the term “spiritual warfare”. But ultimately, spiritual warfare is about pulling down strongholds in our lives; pressing through adversity; thriving beyond surviving; interceding for the well being of others — and effectively doing so from the inside out. However, if you’re regularly in conflict with yourself and believe God is too, then the most powerful and effective warfare in your life is your warfare against yourself, God and all that He’d bless you with.
Rejection from other people gives an immediate sting. But when it implodes and turns into self-rejection, there’s a perpetual devastation to our well-being. Some of us feel that low self-esteem is a type of humility, but God doesn’t see it that way. Unlike any other creature on earth, we were created in His image. The Lord may not like everything we do and He definitely wants us to grow. Will He change our heart and deal with our junk? Definitely. But does He love you, like you and value you as priceless by giving you attributes that only you can bless the world with? Absolutely. He loves us and created us individually. You are divinely crafted, uniquely purposed and wonderfully made. Live in that truth, walk in that truth and bless others through that truth.
See the ray of light today
Beneath the rusty basement door
Or have the wounds caused sight to fray
And grind all worth onto the floor.
Do not rely on others to praise
Open the door – you must decide
To release the nights into the day
And let Him shine through the places you hide.
[The above is an excerpt from “Rooms with a View” by AJ Sigust]
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” Jeremiah 1:5
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…” Psalm 139:14
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. Jeremiah 31:3
“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God…” Romans 8:37-39
Much Peace and Many Blessings :-)
