Section 1, Article 2 — U.S. Constitution “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States , at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President. . . “
Is Barack Obama eligible to be President of the United States? The question has been posed since the campaign in 2008. In recent months the story seemed to have cooled.
Enter the new governor of Hawaii: in his attempt to defend Obama he may have opened a can of worms.
It’s the story that won’t go away, largely because the President can’t or won’t put it to rest.
It is a totally unique story. No one has ever doubted the eligibility of those who became President in days gone by. No other presidential candidate has ever given the rest of us cause to question his natural born or citizenship status.
Barack Obama has given people plenty of reasons to question his status, not the least of which, his constant refusal to present a certified birth certificate coupled with his substantial efforts to conceal all his vital records. (It didn’t help when his first act as President was signing an executive order sealing his records.)
After all, the rest of us can’t even get a driver’s license without presenting a certified, notarized, hospital-generated birth certificate issued by the county of birth.
Even Obama’s defenders are beginning to wonder.
Exasperated hardballer Chris Matthews slurred Dec. 28 about the lunatic birther movement, as he has done off and on for years, but this time he wondered out loud why Obama doesn’t simply present certified proof and settle the controversy once and for all. (Recall the only thing presented so far as proof is a certification of live birth. That document only certifies Obama was born, it does not prove the place, required to fulfill the natural born eligibility requirement.)
On the face of it, it seems incredible, beyond comprehension, too crazy to be remotely true. It suggests an individual, knowing he is not eligible to run for President, purposefully deceived the entire world, raised $750 million (an all time campaign record), staged a global run for the White House with the help of foreign money (illegal), concealed the truth, and foisted a con far greater than anything Bernie Madoff could ever imagine!
The only way Barack Obama could achieve such a thing is with help, lots of help: concealing all his essential documents, covering his tracks for years, and blithely explaining it all away with the help of the lame stream media.
Theories have suggested various scenarios even as many prominent conservatives have concluded the controversy is dead, including Ann Coulter and others.
Still the nagging questions remain: where was Obama born; what citizenship does he hold; is he eligible to be President?
The most extensive coverage anywhere is found at World Net Daily. They’ve done more than 200 stories investigating the allegation Obama was born in Kenya, that his father was a British subject, that his adoptive father made him an Indonesian citizen and so on.
Many have wondered how he could freely travel to Pakistan in 1981 when U.S. citizen travel there was banned. Did he use an Indonesian or Kenyan passport?
Efforts to answer these questions have resulted in various court actions, all of them frustrated or pending.
Yesterday, another WND installment reported on the curious case of Neil Abercrombie, governor of Hawaii.
Remember Abercrombie stepping up Dec. 27 telling the world he was going to shutdown the Birthers once and for all by presenting Barack Obama’s long-form, hospital-generated, certified Hawaiian birth certificate? Such a document would prove conclusively Obama was born in Hawaii, settling the matter once and for all, although Philip Berg says no. (*) (Notice Abercrombie says anyone who wants to uphold the Constitution asking legitimate questions about Obama’s citizenship status is a bad American. How is that for pretzel logic from paradise?)
Well, low and behold, we now have this additional report from WND that Abercrombie seems to be having trouble finding the certified, long-form, hospital generated birth certificate.
Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health.
Still the governor pledged to carry on.
It is worth noting the remarks of Tim Adams in this regard. Former senior elections clerk in Hawaii, Adams says flat out Obama’s long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate does not exist, that the certification of live birth (COLB) does not prove where he was born, and that it is likely he was not born in Hawaii because the COLB is only obtained by a Hawaiian family when a baby is born elsewhere.
Some have stepped forward presenting a Kenyan birth certificate claiming it is proof Obama was born there, but apparently the jury is still out on that one. Media Matters is sure it’s a forgery, that all the people in the birther movement including the entire WND staff are pathological liars and lunatics and racists.
However, remember Obama’s grandmother claiming he was born in Kenya.
And recall the radio interview after Obama was elected with a Kenyan official who said Obama was born in Kenya, to the amazement of the hosts.
Here, Michelle Obama seems to acknowledge that Kenya is her husband’s home country.
Add all this to the case of Lt. Col. Lakin, an Army physician, and several others in the military, protesting the unanswered questions about Obama’s eligibility, and it’s no wonder ears are perked. Lakin refused deployment orders in protest, was convicted in December 2010 by military court, his career ruined. Why would a warrior fall on his sword for a lie?
(*) Democrat lawyer Phil J. Berg was one of the original voices heard protesting Obama’s refusal to produce a certified birth certificate. Berg is convinced Obama is not eligible to be President. Full explanation here. Berg notes presidential candidate John McCain provided full documentation when his status was questioned, but to this day, Obama has declined.
Is it any wonder questions remain, one being: perhaps the Birthers aren’t so crazy after all?
We hope Abercrombie and Obama come up with certified proof so we can all attend to other matters and so the nation can avoid horrendous fallout, for if it is shown Obama engaged in fraud to become President, imagine the terrible consequences for the nation.
Meanwhile the question remains: Where is the birth certificate?
