Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey is in damage-control and counterattack mode after undercover videographers stung them two days ago. Those same videographers today released more footage shot in another Planned Parenthood clinic in another State.
On January 13, LiveAction Films sent a young woman and a young man, posing respectively as a prostitute and her procurer, to the Planned Parenthood clinic in Perth Amboy, NJ. There they filmed clinic manager Amy Woodruff, LPN, and her response to a carefully prepared scenario involving the prostitution of under-age women, illegal immigration, sexually transmitted disease (STD) testing, and abortion. Woodruff proceeded to give the couple some plainly unlawful advice on how to circumvent federal and State immigration, statutory-rape, and vice laws, including advising the women involved to lie about their ages.
LiveAction released a video of the incident two days ago. Planned Parenthood’s first response was to claim that the video was edited and that the entire scenario was staged. In response, LiveAction Films released 22 minutes of raw footage in two unlisted YouTube video submissions. (Unlisted videos are supposed to be the prerogative of a YouTube account holder; why LiveAction Films would release the footage as unlisted is not clear to this Examiner. LiveAction Films has previously accused YouTube of taking down their videos without reference to any specific Terms of Service violation of which LiveAction Films could possibly be guilty.)
Faced with that, Planned Parenthood fired Woodruff.
We have a zero tolerance policy for this kind of behavior, and the employee in the video was immediately suspended from her duties [Tuesday] morning and was terminated [Tuesday] evening.
Furthermore, Susan Livio of the Statehouse Bureau says that NJ Attorney General Paula Dow has ordered an investigation.
At first glance, I find these allegations to be very disturbing.
Dow’s office said that the offices of Governor Chris Christie and several New Jersey legislators had referred the matter to her officially.
Lila Rose, head of LiveAction Films, indicated that this was only the beginning:
Soon, we will be releasing more evidence to law enforcement officials and the public showing that Planned Parenthood is willing to aid and abet sexual exploitation of minors and young women. As our research and evidence will show, this is not only a problem for one clinic in New Jersey — it is much broader and more endemic.
And this morning, LiveAction Films released yet another video, based on footage shot at a Richmond, Virginia clinic on January 12 (one day earlier than their visit to the New Jersey clinic). There their investigators received advice virtually identical in character to that which Woodruff had given the New Jersey team. LiveAction also sent this letter to Virginia’s attorney general, advising him of their evidence. (This Examiner has prepared a playlist of all four videos, embedded at left. Included are the two raw footage videos from New Jersey and the finished works from New Jersey and Virginia.)
The story has already received national attention. Fox News covered it beginning on the evening of its release, and last night Fox News hostess Laura Ingraham interviewed Rose, and then interviewed Jemu Greene, a Fox News regular who often agrees to defend a “liberal” organization that refuses, as did Planned Parenthood, to appear on Fox to defend themselves. In that interview, Ingraham pointed out that Planned Parenthood receives $360 million annually in federal funds.
The Cable News Network also covered it, and quoted Planned Parenthood’s spokespeople as saying that PP had “already reported” the incidents that LiveAction had recorded. Whether this reporting included the Virginia incidents was not clear.
Correspondent Charlie Butts at OneNewsNow quoted ex-Representative Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO) as calling on the US Congress to defund Planned Parenthood completely, both on general principle and in light of the recent revelations.
South Central Jersey activist Nicholas E. Purpura, who is already working on a pro se lawsuit against the government over the healthcare-reform bill, also weighed in this morning. When informed of the release of the Richmond video, he said that LiveAction Films had just established that the Planned Parenthood Federation of America was a continuing criminal enterprise.
Any time you have two different employees, in two different locations, advising people to break the law, you are now a criminal enterprise, and that is what the RICO [Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations] statute is for. And we, the taxpayers, can bring a RICO complaint against Planned Parenthood, because they are getting federal funds and thus are bilking the taxpayers.
