The Hyundai Tournament of Champions signifies the official start to the 2011 golf season. We still have a ways to go before we are able to walk firm fast fairways. At least, unlike a lot of the country, our fairways are not frozen or covered with snow.
By joining the various e-mail lists of golf clubs in and around the Portland area you will receive Portland winter golf discounts that equate to great deals and affordable golf. Such is the case with four of our regional courses that span from Ridgefield WA. to Lebanon OR.
Tri-mountain Golf Course, in Ridgefield WA., is offering $22.00 green fees all day- every day. The only request is that you print out the e-coupon and show it when you check in for your round. Perfect for those days when unexpectedly the sun is shining and the need to play is unstoppable. Offer expires Jan. 31st.
Stone Creek Golf Club, in Oregon City, is offering $25.00 Fridays for the month of January. Seniors play for $20.00. A great chance to play this Peter Jacobsen design that is one of the more challenging regional courses.
Camas Meadows Golf Club, in Camas Wa., offers reduced green fees throughout the winter months; $29.00 m-f and $39.00 Sat-Sun including a GPS programmed cart. Keep in mind it is cart path only in the winter months, so sometimes a cart entails more walking. If you choose to walk the fees are reduced by $9.00 per round.
Mallard Creek Golf Club, in Lebanon OR., is hosting their inaugural 18 hole par 3 golf tournament on Jan. 29th. Entry fees are $20.00 per player, plus a Special All-Day green fees offer of only $20. This adds a much needed fun twist to a normally dreary time of the year, as far as golf is concerned. Mallard Creek also offers punch cards that are good through March and provide green fees for $25.00 per round. A very challenging course set in a very scenic setting. Their 43 spot RV park allows golfers to set up tournaments that also can include extremely reasonable accommodations.
This time of year can be like a non ending visit to the dentist office for die hard golfers, but rest assured there is light at the end of the tunnel. The golf season has officially begun; the Portland Golf Show comes to town Feb. 11th-13th and local courses are providing great deals and affordable golf that make it hard not to take the clubs out of the garage and get reacquainted with your love of the game.
