“Kindness the Movie” spokesperson Sarah Fisher recently answered a few questions about the project:
Tell us about Kindness the Movie.
Kindness the Movie is a groundbreaking documentary project in which people from around the world are invited to share their true stories of kindness, great or small. The most compelling stories will be featured on our YouTube channel and may be featured in our feature length crowd sourced documentary. The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 cash. The film is directed/produced by Eva Brzeski who is an award winning filmmaker (She edited the documentary “Under Our Skin” which was shortlisted for a Best Oscar documentary).
What kinds of stories are you looking for?
We are looking for personal stories about ordinary kindness and life changing kindness. We want to create an opportunity for people to look for evidence of kindness, from the simplest acts to the most profound. People can submit a video of someone they know talking about kindness they have experienced or document a kind act seen in the world.
Who can participate in the project?
We want people to look at people in their own lives and community who are spreading kindness. Kindness is all around us- we often just don’t notice it. You don’t have to be a filmmaker to participate. Anyone who has a flip camera or cell phone camera can make a video. It doesn’t even have to be edited. Kindness really is the best of human nature, and we can find it everywhere, in every culture, in every form. We are eager to see stories from around the world on the many ways kindness can manifest!
Where can people get more information?
They can go to our website: http://www.kindnessthemovie.com
When will the winners be announced?
The winners will be announced in early Summer 2011.
Will there be a compilation available of the best stories on video?
The best videos will be available on our YouTube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/kindnessthemovie). The most compelling stories will be considered for inclusion in the upcoming documentary film.
Any tips you’d like to offer for those who are interested in submitting a video?
Please be as creative as you desire, but remember we are primarily looking for inspiring stories of ordinary, unexpected, or life-changing kindness.
