Jack Frost has decided to extend his stay in North Texas, making ice covered roads dangerous and travel inadvisable. Weather conditions are causing many sporting events involving Wichita Falls teams to be rescheduled, sometimes more than once, as administrators try to find open dates for make up games.
The Wichita Falls Wildcats Friday night game in Frisco against the Texas Tornado has been postponed. The North American Hockey League teams will announce the date of a make up game at a later time. So far there has been no plan to postpone the February 5 game in Wichita Falls that was meant to be the second game of the two game series.
All of Friday nights Wichita Falls ISD basketball games have been canceled. Denton at Rider High School, Wichita Falls High School at Denton Ryan, and Hirschi High School at Graham are postponed with make up dates to be announced.
No official announcement has been made, but WFISD athletic director Kenny Catney indicated that there was a very strong likelihood that the games originally scheduled for February 1 and moved to February 5 will now be played February 7. Those games include Lake Dallas at WFHS, Rider at The Colony, and Bowie at Hirschi.
The Region II-4A Swim Meet in Keller today will also be postponed, with tentative plans to schedule the meet for this Saturday and Sunday. All local high school soccer games have also been canceled.
The Midwestern State tennis team’s season opening match at the University of Texas-Arlington scheduled for February 5 has been postponed until further notice.
The MSU Rugby team’s match scheduled for Saturday in Denton against the University of North Texas has also been canceled. The match will be rescheduled for the weekend of February 19-20, with the exact time and date to be announced later.
The Wichita Falls Vipers exhibition game against the Dallas Bulldogs set to be played at Bowie High School has been canceled. The Vipers have scheduled another game in Bowie against the Denton County Rhinos for February 12 as they prepare for their MPFL season opener on February 26.
The Ray Reed Memorial game between the North Texas Falcons and ATX Tigers at Wichita Falls’ City View High School has also been canceled. The Falcons have rescheduled the benefit game for February 19 at 2 p.m. against the Vernon Texans. The TUFL regular season also begins February 26.
The Wichita Falls Parks and Recreation Department has canceled Youth and Adult TaeKwonDo classes at Jefferson Gym scheduled for February 5.
