Bedtime is often a frightening and stressful time for both young children and their parents. “Where Wild Babies Sleep” by Michigan author Ann Purmell can help make this an enjoyable and loving time for children and adults.
This delightful book starts with the question, “Do you know where wild babies sleep?” The answers come in limited text with colorful illustrations of different babies sleeping while their mothers watch over them. A kangaroo, a porcupine, and an armadillo are just a few of the animals. Although they may not seem like the ‘wildest’ of animals, the ending will bring giggles from some and restful sleep.
The illustrator, Lorianne Siomades, has created a brilliant colored picture book and the use of shadows creates an almost 3-D effect. Other books illustrated by Siomades include “Kangaroo and Cricket,” “A Place to Bloom” and “Cuckoo Can’t Find You.”
