Jean Paul Gaultier brings his “Madonna look” to his first-ever collection for the Italian lingerie brand La Perla
The signature look of Madonna’s “Blonde Ambition” world tour of 1990 is making a return in a new fashionable lingerie collection. French designer Jean Paul Gaultier, the creative inventor of the legendary rocket cone-bra, will launch his first ever 23-piece collection exclusively for the sophisticated-style lingerie brand, La Perla.
The collection, which includes an entire wardrobe of seductive and suggestive designs, will launch on Monday, January 17 in several shops and boutiques in the UK and on Net-a-porter.com. But if you want to get your hands on a “boudoir pink” or “jet-black” variation of the classic “rocket cone” corsetry, then you better jump on the wait list that has already grown to over 150 people.
The designs include:
- Several satin pieces containing star-shaped backstitching to define the curvaceous, hourglass silhouette that Gaultier focuses on in his work.
- A scarlet, stretch-satin, “bra-dress” with metal clasps and a multi-strap ‘bondage’ back
- A vintage-bra with double-straps and satin shoulder-pads
- A black guipure ace bra
“An explosive concentrate of luxury and femininity,” is how La Perla’s chief executive officer, Alain Prost, described the fashion union between the Italian lingerie brand and Gaultier, to a news source (link to: http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/columns/hilary-alexander/TMG8254671/Jean-Paul-Gaultier-collaborates-with-La-Perla.html).
Each piece in the collection celebrates the female body and is designed to be worn as a traditional underneath garment or as party/club-wear. Either way, this collection will fuse the “Madonna look” with sexy, sophisticated modern trends and make a big splash in the industry.
