Here we are again, at the anniversary of Roe vs Wade, a somber reality. With this anniversary comes getting through the rhetoric and media from both sides of the issue. The Biblical perspective found support from the late, former President, Ronald Reagan in his stand on abortion rights and the effects on all people.
Since the Roe vs Wade ruling technology, medical research and medical doctors now term an unborn life (science named ‘fetus’) viable at an earlier age than they did in 1973. God’s word directs us to focus on recognizing the life of the unborn and not deviating from His word.
The Bible contends that God is our DNA creator: God created man in His image (Spirit), but born in flesh.
Genesis 2:7And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. (ASV) God created male and female in His image.
Genesis 1:27So God created people in his own image; God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them. (NLT)
Leviticus 17:11For the life of the flesh is in the blood…….14For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof. (KJV)
The Bible is clear how God views life in the womb:
Jeremiah 1:5I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb (NLT)
Psalms 139:13You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. (NLT)
The Bible has numerous scriptures relating to care of widows and orphans and terms orphans as children deprived of parents (NAS). The unborn fit that term:
James 1:27Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles, and refuse to let the world corrupt us.(NLT)
For these reasons Roe vs Wade will forever be a dividing thorn in the side of the United States. We are free to call it what we want;
Life vs Death (aka termination)
Unwanted Life vs Other Options
Right to choose for personal reasons vs Right to oppose for personal reasons – various, including spiritual and forced financial
Prolife Advocate vs Prolife Opponent
Recent commercials pull on our heartstrings for support the unwanted animals. What would happen if commercials showed unwanted unborn growing, moving, making faces, smiling, sucking their thumbs, with the heartbeat and life blood flowing through their body? Would people be any more convinced that this aspect of human life needs their support? How would that commercial end, the same way termination does? What kind of nation and people are we if we don’t support the value of any human life above any and all animals? A somber reality.
