It only took a couple of hours for the left to blame conservatives for the Tucson shootings. Some blame it outright while others don’t go that far but the Palins, Becks and Limbaughs at least create the “atmosphere” for it to happen. It ought to be noted that there are some on the left that do see the incident for what it is and dismiss all of the above.
For the opportunists in their ranks the motives are clear. The incident is useful for discrediting those that they don’t agree with. Free speech is one thing, but when people start shooting each other, well we should think about Limbaugh, Beck and Palin as dangerous.
Here is Josh Horwitz who’s day job is the “Executive Director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence”. It’s doubtful Mr. Horwitz has offices in inner-city Hartford or New Haven, where this kind of thing is all too common or any other violent area for that matter. Mr. Horwitz and his supposed “coalition” have more pressing concerns, he writes in the Huffington Post:
We can describe Saturday’s shooting rampage in Tucson as shocking, horrifying, and unthinkable; but no one — no elected official, no media commentator, no opinion maker — can truthfully say it was a surprise. It was not an isolated act, nor was it an aberration. Instead it was the latest tragic incident in a purposely-designed effort to inject violence into our political process.
This embrace of political violence has been part of far right wing ideology…
And on and on. He can say baseless and absurd statements like “Purposely-designed effort” of the right wing and not have to back it up–and doesn’t– because Mr.Horwitz is fighting against violence with guns and so that makes him an authority on the matter, we should take his word on it. When a person is spending time executive-ly directing it means he’s smart. That the shooting became headline news everywhere is all a mistake, why, it shouldn’t be a “surprise” to anyone.
In September of last year a shooter stormed into the offices of the Discovery channel and took hostages. At that time there were no calls to tone down the political rhetoric. Mostly because the shooter was an angry environmentalist out to save the planet, his manifesto contained this:
The Discovery Channel and it’s affiliate channels MUST have daily television programs at prime time slots based on Daniel Quinn’s “My Ishmael” pages 207-212 where solutions to save the planet would be done in the same way as the Industrial Revolution was done, by people building on each other’s inventive ideas. Focus must be given on how people can live WITHOUT giving birth to more filthy human children since those new additions continue pollution and are pollution. A game show format contest would be in order. Perhaps also forums of leading scientists who understand and agree with the Malthus-Darwin science and the problem of human overpopulation. Do both. Do all until something WORKS and the natural world starts improving and human civilization building STOPS and is reversed! MAKE IT INTERESTING SO PEOPLE WATCH AND APPLY SOLUTIONS!!!!
Civilization must be exposed for the filth it is.That, and all its disgusting religious-cultural roots and greed.
Broadcast this message until the pollution in the planet is reversed and the human population goes down!
This is your obligation. If you think it isn’t, then get hell off the planet! Breathe Oil!
Evidently the offices of Stop The Gun Violence were on vacation that week. Also the notion of political debate creating an atmosphere of violence was non-existent at the time. There are some reports that the Tucson shooter was a left wing lunatic, if that’s the case, well, so much for the notion of Palin’s cross-hair map and Limbaugh’s incite to violence. Also there will be no mention or speculation that the hard left is creating an atmosphere of violence against blue dog Democrats.
