SnowSports Industries America (SIA) plans to host the 2011 SIA Snow Show Jan. 27-30, at the Colorado Convention Center in downtown Denver. Scheduled after the Outdoor Retailer (OR) Winter Market held this weekend in Salt Lake City that includes products for a broad range of winter recreational activities, the SIA Snow Snow focuses almost exclusively on skiing and snowboarding. The Denver trade show is followed by an on-snow demo portion Jan. 31- Feb. 1, at Colorado’s Winter Park Resort for alpine skiing and snowboarding and Devil’s Thumb Ranch for nordic skiing.
“Our second year in Denver has shaped up really well with a sold-out show, retail registration is up over last year and the number of exhibitors for both the Snow Show at the Colorado Convention Center and the On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest at Winter Park Resort and Devil’s Thumb Ranch are also up significantly. Plus, all the great snow we’ve seen this season has led to very strong sales at retail,” said David Ingemie, SIA President. Prior to the show’s move to Denver in 2010, the show was held in Las Vegas.
Although the trade show itself will be open only to credentialed industry professionals, a few activities held in conjunction with the show will be open to the public. For the first time, The Ski Channel will host a mountain-oriented film festival Jan. 27-29, at the Colorado Convention Center. Tickets may be purchased through The Ski Channel website. Open to the public ages 18 and over, the 2011 Snowdown celebration and dance party will be at 8 p.m., Thursday at Denver’s City Hall. Tickets may be may be purchased through the Snowdown website.
