Want to find good snow, better terrain, and less people? Go to Skibowl.
For those unfamiliar with the “resort”, Skibowl is located in and around Government Camp on Mt. Hood. It’s about 15 minutes closer to Portland than Timberline, and 30 minutes closer than Meadows, which means more beginners but cheaper tickets.
The best thing about Skibowl is the small-town feel and the vast amount of varied terrain. From steep and rocky to flat and mellow, this place has got you covered. The lifts are slow but if you’re optimistic they can offer plenty of time to get to know the person your sitting with. Keep an eye out for more in-depth posts on Skibowl in the near future.
Get to Skibowl after 3pm and ride “America’s largest night ski area” for just $26.
Ride the upper bowl and hike a few minutes to forgotten pow stashes.
Expect valet service or high-speed quads.
