This is a fast-paced game that I use to play with my younger sister. The game is played by two people. Divide 52 deck cards evenly between both players (about 26 cards each). Set up 5 piles of cards face down in front of you (almost like playing solitaire but with 5 piles instead of 7), from left to right:
First pile has one card, second has two, third has three, fourth has four, and fifth has five. Turn over top card in each pile. The rest of the cards in your hand are called the Spit cards.
You can only play with one hand so these cards have to remain in your nondominent hand. Each player says, “1,2,3 SPIT!” place top cards from your in-hand Spit cards between both setups, forming 2 “spit piles”.
Play cards either one higher or one lower than a top card on either Spit pile. If one of the Spit piles shows a Jack, the next card can be either a 10 or a Queen.
Play cards as fast as you can, placing them on either pile. The first person to put his/her cards down prevails.
Turn over the next card up in your setup. Keep 5 cards exposed at all times.
When neither player can play a card on either Spit pile, start the count play over again, “1,2,3 SPIT!” :
Keep playing like this until one player has no cards left in his/her setup. If the first one done, you pick up the smaller pile. The other player takes the larger pile. Shuffle your cards, make your set-up again, and continue playing until 1 player has too few cards to make a complete setup.
Continue playing until one person has no cards at all, or whoever has the most cards in their hand and piles, loses.
