Tampa police murder suspect, Dontae Morris, charged with fifth murder (videos)
Dontae Morris, the sole murder suspect in the case of the shooting deaths of Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab, was charged with a fifth murder on Thursday, January 20, 2011. Dontae Rashawn Morris, 25, was charged for the shooting death of Rodney Jones, 42. Tampa prosecutors say that on May 31, 2010, Morris gunned down Jones outside the Cotton Club located on 2502 North Albany in Tampa.
According to authorities, Rodney Jones left the Club at approximately 2:30 am, May 31, 2010 when he was approached by several men then shot to death. Reports say that Rodney Jones was shot point blank in the face. It is believed the second suspect will be arrested shortly.
Dontae Morris faces two charges of murder for the deaths of Tampa Police Officers David Curtis and Jeffrey Kocab. He was also charged with first degree murder for the shooting death of Harold Wright, 25, on June 8, 2010 and for the murder of Derek Anderson, 21, on May 18, 2010.
After Dontae Morris was apprehended on July 2, 2010, Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor released a statement, “Dontae Morris was released from prison in April, and in a few short months he killed five individuals, including two police officers, in Hillsborough County. “
Tampa Police say that Dontae Morris used the same gun in the shooting deaths of Officers David Curtis, Jeffrey Kocab and in the murder of Derek Anderson.
