Actress Tara Reid, perhaps best known as “Bunny Lebowski” in the 1998 hit The Big Lebowski, seems a bit confused about her upcoming films and movie releases.
Reid recently surprised producers of the “Lebowski” crime drama by announcing that she would reprise her role for the film’s sequel some time this year.
EW reports that while appearing at the John Lovitz Comedy Club, Reid told media,”I have a movie coming out called The Fields. I have another one coming out that I produced with my brother called The Irishman, and we’ll be doing American Pie 4 this year and Big Lebowski 2 this year.”
Joel and Ethan Coen, writers, directors and practically the last word on all things “Lebowski” seemed a bit blindsided by the revelation but appeared to take it in good humor.
When writer Ethan Coen (Fargo, True Grit, Country For Old) spoke with Austin360 and was asked about a “Lebowski” follow-up he confirmed there is nothing in the works.
Jokingly, Coen said, “Well, we don’t [have a sequel planned] but we’ll watch it when it comes out,” adding, “especially if Tara’s in it.”
Reid’s spokesman recently attempted to explain the incident by telling EW, “She heard Jeff Bridges say that he wanted to make ‘Big Lebowski 2’ and have all the original cast members in it, so she may have misspoke, thinking that included her based on what Jeff said.”
As for Reid’s statement about film The Irishman, there are 2 films coming out with that title set for 2011 and 2012 — and neither Reid nor her brother appear to be connected with either of them.
Writers Chad and Evan Law will bring Geo Santini directed The Irishman to theaters starring Laith Salim.
In 2012, Robert DeNiro will star in Martin Scorsese directed The Irishmen — with actors Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci rumored to be in on the project.
However, a 3rd film with a different but similar title, Kill The Irishman (starring Val Kilmer, Christopher Walken, Vincent D’Onofrio and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh), is scheduled for release on March 11 and is produced by Tommy Reid (Tara’s brother).
Did you know? Both Tara Reid and her brother Tommy each have their own production companies. Tara’s production company is known as Hi Happy Films.
