I haven’t met a movie fan yet who is not fond of the great Robert DeNiro. He made his first true claim to fame in The Godfather Part II as the young Vito Corleone. He went on to to prove his versatility and become one of America’s most revered actors for the next three-plus decades and is still going strong. An article is not long enough to cover the many accomplishments of Robert DeNiro’s career. We all remember DeNiro’s speech at the Golden Globes when he received his Lifetime Achievement Award. He is young enough to pump out even more hits, though he has already established a lifetime collection of stellar performances from Raging Bull to Meet the Parents.
DeNiro fans everywhere are sure to have a copy of the award-winning movie Taxi Driver in their DVD collections. This captivating drama came out a mere two years after The Godfather Part II and DeNiro hit it out of the ball park once again making him even more famous than he was before. How many of you will pay top dollar to see it again (or perhaps for the first time) in the theater? As one of many people on a tight budget these days, I have to admit that I was skeptical at first whether it would be worth paying to watch Taxi Driver in the theater when I have a huge screen TV and a copy of the movie right in my living room.
I later learned that the film was restored in Sony 4K Digital and it is also the 35th Anniversary of the original release of Taxi Driver. This helped me make up my mind and now I have my heart set on going. I can’t wait to see the quality we could have possibly missed with the original. You have to admit this movie can only get better considering its huge success along with one of Robert DeNiro’s best acting performances to date.
I hope you have nothing to do tonight because this is your only chance to catch what could be the last showing of Taxi Driver on the big screen. The movie will show at 8:00 p.m. sharp, so buy your tickets in advance to be sure that you’ll have a seat. It’s now time to call your friends. If they’re not home, call your family and if your family is not around, get out there and go it alone! There is still hope for you folks who have to work or can’t find a babysitter because the Blu-Ray release is scheduled for April 12, 2011. You will still have the chance to watch the restored version of Taxi Driver on your home television. I truly hope you can take this phenomenal opportunity tonight to experience Taxi Driver the way it was meant to be watched. Check your local theater for listings!
“Loneliness has followed me my whole life. Everywhere. In bars, in cars, sidewalks, stores, everywhere. There’s no escape. I’m God’s lonely man… June 8th. My life has taken another turn again. The days can go on with regularity over and over, one day indistinguishable from the next. A long continuous chain. Then suddenly, there is a change.” -Travis Bickle
