Born on February 21, 1987, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Ellen Page yearned to act from a young age and attended the Neptune Theater School. As shown in her recent performances, she has obviously progressed from her aspiration to act to securing her own territory among other famous actors.
Also known as the tiny Canadian, Ellen Page initiated her career by appearing in the TV show movie Pit Pony (1999), for which she received a Young Artist and Gemini nomination for Best Performance. Surprisingly, she played the role of Maggie MacLean in Pit Pony at just the age of 10. However, it wasn’t until her performance in the movie Marion Bridge (2002) that she discovered that acting was her absolute passion.
Audiences and critics truly began to notice Page after her roles in Hard Candy (2005), which is about a girl who ensnares a man that she believes to be a sexual predator, and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Page has stated that she prefers to stay away from typical teenage girl roles and demonstrated her point by playing a pregnant teenager in the controversial movie Juno (2007). It was for this particular film that Page received an Oscar nomination, and she has continued to deliver ever since.
After her stunning performance in Juno, Page went on to be a part of Whip It (2009), Inception (2010), and other films of merit. She will be playing Stacie Andree in the soon to be released drama Freeheld.
