The Grand Sports Bar is an entertaining pub filled with music, happy regulars and the nicest staff in Irving Texas. The sports bar is connected to a large Chinese restaurant, both collectively referred to as The Grand. Many people go to the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet next door before joining in the activities at the bar. The Grand Sports Bar is a place for adults to play and get their sing on for the night. If you are looking for a hole in the wall atmosphere, this is the place to be in Irving.
Menu and Pricing
The sports bar side of the business features a mixture of an American/Italian menu. A small pizza runs about $11.99 and a large is about $14.99, but they do run specials on occasion for $10 large pizzas. The pizza is plenty greasy and tasty and packed high with your favorite toppings. A few selections include Spinach Alfredo with Chicken pizza, Philly Cheese Steak pizza, Spicy Buffalo Chicken pizza, Veggie pizza, Hawaiian pizza and of course, the Meat Lovers pizza.
The sandwiches include an awesome sweet sauce which may cause addiction and they are accompanied by thick wedge fries. They run about $6.59 each and include selections such as Meatball sandwich, Italian Sub sandwich, Grilled Chicken sandwich, Turkey Sub sandwich, Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, and Chicken Parmesan Sub sandwich. There is a small salad selection that runs from about $3.99 to $6.99 which includes a Chef’s Salad, Grilled Chicken Salad, Greek Salad, Garden Salad, and a Caesar’s Salad.
The restaurant is filled with flat screen televisions from wall to wall. The bar seats about 17 people comfortably. Often you will find the “regulars” pulling up a bar stool for after work happy hour. On Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings starting at around 9:00 pm, KJ Markham backs up some of the best amateur singers in Irving. There is a DJ booth and a small stage fully equipped with a microphone, podium and chair. The words to each song are shown on two television screens for the singer and audience to follow along. About two to three times during each show, line dancing commences and crowds of people flock the dance floor to join in. On occasion, some will dance during a karaoke song or two.
There are plenty of ways to have fun at the Grand Sports Bar. There are 6 billiard tables in a separate section of the restaurant and tournament teams play on Monday nights. Billiards runs about $10 an hour with a 1 hour minimum. There are two shuffle board tables, two video games including the popular 2011 Golden Tee Live and Silverstrike Bowling and Buzztime trivia and Texas Hold’em. When karaoke or sports are not entertaining the crowd, there is a TouchTunes juke box that is very popular. The music from the jukebox ranges from country music to hard rock and everything in between.
