Cold enough for you, Memphis? Don’t let Old Man Winter put a damper on your weekend; after all, there’s enough smoking hot rock shows around town to get things heated up. Here is your Weekend Rock Gallery for January 21st through January 23rd.
Always a Mecca of good times and great music, The Stage Stop will become haven to some awesome music as Seeing Red hits the stage on Friday night. Some incredible original tunes integrated with some of your favorite covers will certainly make venturing out in the cold well worth it! Seeing Red will start rockin’ at 10p.m. and there is a $5 cover. Bring yourself!
If it’s some home-grown, country rock you’re in the mood for, Frankie Hollie and the Noise will threaten to shake the foundation of Swanky’s Taco Shop on Friday night. Boasting some new tunes, these boys are ready to rock it out! NO COVER and all ages are welcome! If you haven’t had the chance to hear these guys, do yourself a favor and go! You’ll thank yourself later!
One of the most original acts comprised of some of best hits of the 80’s, Aquanet will be performing at The Boiling Point in Southaven, MS on Saturday night. I can’t stress enough to you, Memphis, that the show this quadrant of spandex-clad, hair-tossing ensemble puts on is one that you MUST witness, but I’m issuing you fair warning; once infected by the GLAM-orous sound of Aquanet, one time will not be enough! Show starts at 9p.m. and there’s a small cover. Come out early and enjoy some of the best seafood around before the show!
Want to be blown away with a heavier brand of rock and roll? Then head on down to Neil’s Music Room on Saturday night for the incredible sounds of 714. Hard-hitting sounds flanked by rich guitar riffs and aggressive drum tracks makes 714’s songs some of the best I’ve heard. Show starts at 9p.m. and they’ll be melting your face off until the early morning hours. Haven’t heard them, yet? You have no idea what you’re missing. I suggest you take a listen; your ears will thank you.
You up for a little road trip? Memphis band, Haven Hill, will take the stage—alongside Hour Glass, Iron-E, and Veridium—at The Rev Room in Little Rock, AR. Having heard the content of their upcoming album, Switchblade Life, and having had the pleasure of seeing them perform live, I’d travel through a monsoon to see them if I had to! They’re amazing musicians and their album is sure to make waves in the Memphis area and beyond. Doors will open at 8p.m. and the show begins at 9p.m. This is an all-ages event, with covers being $5 for 21 and up and $8 for anyone under 21. You won’t want to miss this great line up, especially Memphis’ own, Haven Hill!
Rock on, Memphis!
