ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine forward Ian Jackson its Player of the Week in men’s basketball for games played through February 9.
Jackson, a sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind. (Perry Meridian HS), scored 62 points in leading the Thunder to two MIAA victories last week. He scored 28 points, including three 3-pointers, as Trine defeated Albion, 72-68. He then scored a career-high 34 points, including the game-winning basket with two seconds remaining, as the Thunder rallied to edge Olivet, 79-77.
Jackson, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the second time this season and in his career, made 23 of 40 shots from the field (57 percent), 4 of 8 from 3-point range (50 percent) and 12 of 18 from the free-throw line (67 percent) for the week.
Trine, now 12-11, 4-8 in the MIAA, has won three-straight games and four of their last five games.
