The “Law & Order” TV franchise is probably the best scripted legal dramas on television. The original show lasted 20 seasons on NBC. It was so popular that it still runs daily on cable. Atlanta based TNT is the home of the original “Law & Order” on cable. The show inspired four U.S. spin-offs and one in the U.K. Now you can watch “Law & Order: UK” every Friday night on BBC America. The show follows the same format you are accustomed to with the U.S. version. However there are some small differences. U.K. detectives called DS short for Detective Sergeant and their D.A’s are called Crown Prosecutors. Then there is the one thing that really sets the U.K. version apart from the other incarnations of the show. U.K. police detectives don’t typically carry firearms. American viewers may recognize Jamie Bamber from “Battlestar Galatica” who plays DS Matt Devlin and Freema Agyeman of “Doctor Who” plays assistant Crown Prosecutor Alesha Philips. “Law & Order: U.K.” airs Friday nights at 9 P.M. on BBC America, Atlanta Comcast channel 130. Check your local listings for specific channel information where you live.
Also tonight, the series finale of “Medium” airs at 8 P.M. on CBS, WGCL-TV. The show ends its seventh and last season with Allison finally becoming a lawyer. With Joe getting a new job, the Dubois family dynamic is completely different from what it once was.
Note: “Blue Bloods” which previously aired on Friday nights at 10 P.M. has moved to a new time of Wednesdays at 10 P.M. on CBS, WGCL-TV. Check you local listings for specific channel information.
