Tomorrow you may notice some changes to morning television. CBS’ “The Early Show” and Atlanta affiliate WGCL-TV’s “Better Mornings Atlanta”, will start their first broadcasts of the New Year with some noticeable changes. First off, the CBS morning news program “The Early Show” will debut its new anchor team on Monday. Harry, Smith, Maggie Rodriguez and Dave Price have all been reassigned. Their replacements are former Atlanta resident and CNN anchor Erica Hill, WCBS anchor and “Early Show” Saturday co-anchor Chris Wragge and former “Good Morning America” weekend weather anchor Marysol Castro. CBS correspondent and weekend evening news anchor Jeff Glor will replace Erica Hill as the show’s news anchor. The new “Early Show” team debuts Monday January 3, at 7 A.M. on CBS, WGCL-TV in Atlanta.
Also making some changes that coincide with the network’s new look, CBS Atlanta’s “Better Mornings Atlanta” is kicking off a new ad campaign that is provocative and sure to have people talking. The station will be plastering the Atlanta metro area with billboards of Tracye Hutchins, Brandon Rudat and Jennifer Valdez in a very interesting and suggestive pose with their arms covered in tattoos. The ads may be pushing the envelope a bit for Atlanta’s local news. However one member of the “BMA” morning team is probably trilled at the new campaign. Ever since arrival in Atlanta this year, Brandon Rudat has had to keep his tattoos covered. When Rudat has done reports out on location he’d wear a long sleeve t-shirt to cover his tattoos even when Georgia’s weather reached extreme temperatures. So I give credit to CBS Atlanta for allowing Rudat to sport his tattoos for the entire city to see. It’s not a typical anchor look, but it’s honest and unique. It has the potential to attract younger viewers who are more likely to identify with Rudat. “Better Mornings Atlanta” airs weekdays from 4:30 to 7 A.M. on WGCL-TV, CBS Atlanta. Programming note: A new show on HGTV may be able to help you put a little green in your wallet. “Cash & Cari” follows an estate sale expert Cari Cucksey, as she rummages through her clients closets, basements and attics in search of hidden treasures that could fetch a pretty penny. “Cash & Cari” premieres Monday January 3, at 10 P.M. on HGTV, Atlanta Comcast channel 59.
