HOUSTON, Texas: A leader of an American organization working for an independent Balochistan has asked the State Department to explain why U.S. Marines were still training the dreaded Frontier Corps which is killing Baloch patriots extra judicially in Texas-sized Balochistan in southwest Asia.
“Balochistan is faced with a tsunami of human rights violations. In the last half of 2010 as many as 80 Baloch activists were forcibly disappeared, tortured and killed extra judicially and their bodies thrown out in the open in deserted places,” Malik Baloch, presiding council member of the DC-based American Friends of Balochistan, said. “The Amnesty International called it the kill-and-dump policy of Pakistan occupation forces in Balochistan.”
Malik Baloch was speaking at an event organized by World Sindhi Congress to commemorate 107th birth anniversary of legendary leader and Sufi politician from Sindh, Saeen G.M. Syed.
The A.F.B. leader criticised the U.S. Department of State for turning a blind eye to the gross human rights violations in Balochistan.
“As an American national and taxpayer I am extremely concerned that 41 U.S. Marines are stationed in Quetta training the Frontier Corps. The Frontier Corps in addition to the Military Intelligence and Inter Services Intelligence as you all know is carrying out the enforced disappearances and killing Baloch patriots,” Malik Baloch regretted.
He asked the U.S. Department of State and the Pentagon to answer to the American public why they are training these Taliban in uniform.
“This is a huge political scandal. This is nurturing poisonous snakes. The Patrick Leahy Amendment forbids the U.S. government from doing any dealings with military units that violate human rights,” Malik Baloch said.
He called upon the Obama administration to explain why the Patrick Leahy Amendment is not being followed in Balochistan. “Why is the U.S. silent over the extra judicial killings in Balochistan?” he queried.
Baloch urged the U.S. Government, the State Department, Pentagon and other allied agencies to immediately open talks with Baloch leaders over the future of Balochistan. “These Baloch leaders in our considered view are Hyrbyair Marri, Brahumdagh Bugti, Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch.”
A.F.B. insiders said the organization was aslo wanting to include the National Party as a stakeholder in Balochistan but dropped the idea as the party has infamous drug smuggler Imam Bheel as its key leader and financier. President Barack Obama had declared Bheel a drug kingpin in 2009.
Just like Saeen GM Syed knew that the state of Pakistan does not have a future and devoted all his life for the independence of Sindh spending most of life behind bars or under house arrest, the American Friends of Balochistan fully supports the Baloch freedom struggle.
“We advocate rights of civilian non-combatants must be protected even during times of war,” Malik Baloch said.
He said the A.F.B. has a message of love. “Love for our homeland and love for our brave people. We do not hate anyone. We only hate the slavery that Punjabi supremacists have imposed on us for more than 60 years now,” Malik Baloch said.
He said Baloch freedom fighter and legendary leader Dr. Allah Nazar Baloch has said if he had a choice between picking up a gun or a book, he would pick up the book.
“At the same time we believe in uniting Baloch forces for struggle on all fronts, be it political front, student front, women front. We know without unity, we can not win the war against Pakistani occupation forces.”
He said Islamabad has continued with its “kill and dump policy” in Balochistan. Year 2011 is just two weeks old and it seems like the state of Pakistan will continue to commit the genocide of Baloch people in Balochistan this year also.
Those killed extra judicially so far this year are Faraz Baloch, Sardarzda Yousaf Langov Baloch, Qambar Chakar Baloch, Ilyas Nazar Baloch, Azam Badini, Mirjan Marri and Taj Mohammed Marri.
“It is these atrocities that convinces us Pakistan Peoples Party is not a Sindhi party. The party head, Mr. Ten Percent Asif Ali Zardari repeats Pakistan Khapay, though he has no clue when the army generals are going to boot him out of the Pakistan President’s House,” Malik Baloch said.
