Look Who Is Coming is a unique children’s picture book by Orange County couple Zuma Ayriyan and Varuzhan Khachatryan, and it is illustrated by Lenley Makela. Aryiyan and Khachatryan, an Irvine-based couple, created the short, personalized board book, and it may be of great interest to individuals aiming to teach the children in their lives to read, count, identify shapes and colors, and to recognize the important individuals they encounter in their daily lives. Parents and other caretakers can, when reading this unique book, insert personal photographs of family members and friends.
I was pleasantly surprised as I flipped through this interactive book. The pictures, vibrant and cute, capture the eye. The ability to insert photographs of the important people in a child’s life is a fresh idea—one that ought to be explored further as a powerful educational tool in kids’ reading materials. I recommend this book to parents, teachers, grandparents, older siblings, aunts, and uncles who enjoy spending time reading to their little ones. I suggest that the book is appropriate for children ages 3 to 7.
Ayriyan, a musician, and Khachatryan, an immigration attorney, drew inspiration for Look Who Is Coming from Alex, their five-year-old son who has autism.
