Walbridge School http://www.walbridgeschool.com is a non-profit educational facility, geared toward providing a safe, supportive setting with an individualized plan of educating elementary through middle school aged students with learning challenges. Students come to Walbridge to receive an education based on their capabilities, in which classrooms work in small groups to provide a more comfortable setting for children who have difficulty achieving academic goals in larger school systems, due to their unique learning needs.
The school follows state guidelines and criteria but also accomodates the diverse learning styles of each student. Many of the students who had been struggling in mainstream schools have been able to achieve greater success and gained self esteem, due to the academic environment the school and it’s educator’s have worked hard to attain.
Open communication between parents and staff is encouraged. In addition, the school incorporates a flexible part time program to accommodate not only students but their families as well. Other programs offered at Walbridge School are as follows:
- Tutoring (on site)
- Speech/Language Therapy (on-site, for students enrolled in the day school program)
- After School Program
- Summer School Program
- Two time winner of the KW2 Goodstock Program (see school website for more information)
Walbridge School also offers an eight week summer camp program beginning with the “Arts and Interests Program” which is a two week camp, followed by a four week camp, teaching academics in the morning followed by arts classes in the afternoon. The second session of the two week “Arts and Interests Program” ends the summer session. All classes are instucted by experienced educators.
Walbridge School may be small in structure but it is mighty in it’s goal to provide a safe and individualized plan of educating the learning challenged students who grace it’s walls.
