I can’t think of many people who have tried Kiehls products, and who didn’t fall in love with them. The company has been providing high quality products for skin, hair and body, for a long, long time. I’m sure that their latest and greatest in the anti-aging category will wow devotees and win many new fans as well.
That new product is Kiehls Rosa Artica Youth Generating Cream ($60.00 for 1.7 fl. Oz. / 50ml). It just “blossomed” onto shelves in March, offering a new way to protect and nurture your skin. The star ingredient in this new cream is “The Resurrection Flower,” also known as “Haberlea Rhodenpensis.” This pretty flower, hand-picked in the mountains of Bulgaria, is about as exotic as you can get. It’s part of the African Violet species, but it does a lot more than just look pretty in a pot! It has the physical ability to hold so much moisture and avoid water loss, that it can dry out completely , and still survive periods of dryness for up to 31 months. When growth conditions (and moisture) come back, the plant can literally spring to life within hours, with only a few drops of moisture. Within a couple of days, it’s back to normal.
Obviously, the analogy is tempting to attribute to your skin, using Kiehls Rosa Artica Youth Generating cream. Anyone who has dry skin can benefit, but since the product was tested with people 40-50 years old, that’s the target audience. I write about many different types of skin care, but as with everything I review, I can only tell you what my personal experience is with the product. Your results or feelings about it may differ.
I like the rich cream that has a very hydrating effect and it’s very impressive. Once I smoothed it onto my skin, I sensed it coming to life (like the Resurrection Flower), immediately. My skin didn’t feel greasy, but it did glow, and it didn’t make me bgreak out. Best of all, I saw immediate results on hydration–no need to wait the 4 weeks the testers used the product to see additional, anti-aging results. But this is an anti-aging cream as well as a moisturizing one. It’s supposed to help “wake up” skin cells, resulting in the minimization of the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and improvement of overall skin. If you hydrate dry, mature skin, it should start to look better, but it takes time and patience, and regular applications. I can’t tell you from the sample I received whether or not your skin is going to look younger over time because I didn’t have enough product, or time, to test that. But I can tell you that it hydrates beautifully. If it also helps jump-start collagen and elastin production, helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, and it helps to defend your skin from environmental and oxidation from free radicals, so much the better.
Other key ingredients are Vitamin E (protects against free radicals), and cocoa butter, shea butter and essential fatty acids (e.g. oleic, stearic and palmatic acid) to help replenish lipid deficiency, Squalane (refined oil from olives that works well with the natural oils of the skin), and Glycerin (known to be hold moisture in skin,). All of these ingredients are tried and true players in helping to improve the look and feel of skin. My feeling is that if your skin feels dry, and you want to “resurrect” it, you can’t go wrong by trying this new and exceptionally hydrating product from Kiehls. Check out this new ccream at a Kiehls store, select specialty retailers nationwide, or visit www.Kiehls.com.
