The WWE held its annual Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on Sunday night. Oklahoma’s own Jim Ross said in his blog that he is “anxiously looking forward to” the pay-per-view and that his “focus is on the (Jerry Lawler) vs. Miz bout for the WWE Title.”
While that match was a special one for the card, the 61-year old Lawler getting his first chance to finally wrestle at Wrestlemania, the main focus is on the WWE Elimination Chamber events.
With that said, here are the results from the WWE Elimination Chamber 2011.
Match 1: Kofi Kingston vs. Alberto Del Rio
Alberto Del Rio is getting the WWE World Championship shot at Wrestlemania against whoever wins the World Championship Elimination Chamber match tonight. Kofi Kingston is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion and this is a non-title bout. The main purpose of the match is to make Del Rios look good heading into one of the two main events at Wrestlemania. Del Rios ended up winning at just over ten minutes with a flying armbar for the three count. The match worked for its intended purpose, making Del Rios look good without making Kingston look bad.
Winner: Albert Del Rios
Match 2: WWE Elimination Chamber Match: Smackdown
This match originally was supposed to involve Dolph Zigler but he was removed from the match on Friday Night Smackdown. They held off on announcing the new replacement until the match started. The Big Show replaced Ziggler and joins World Champion Edge, Rey Mysterio Jr., Wade Barrett and Drew McIntyre in the match. The eliminations are as follows: Big Show eliminates Wade Barrett, Kane eliminates Big Show, Kane eliminates Drew McIntyre, Edge eliminates Kane and Edge eliminates Rey Mysterio. The match lasted 31 minutes.
Winner and Still WWE World Champion: Edge
After the match, Alberto Del Rio ran down and attacked Edge. Christian makes his return from injury and saves his old tag team partner Edge. Christian drops Del Rio with the Kill Switch and then Edge hits a spear.
Match 3: WWE Tag Team Championship: Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov vs. Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater
Santino and Kozlov defend their WWE tag team belts against a Smackdown tag team. The match only lasts five minutes and surprisingly, it is Kozlov and not Santino, who eats the pin as Gabriel and Slater win their second WWE tag team titles. This is a perfect decision because this means they can show up on RAW and the lead-in to the Wrestlemania match between members of the Core and Nexus can begin.
Winner and New Champions: Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater
There is an in-ring promo next as Vicky Guerrero comes out and begs for Teddy Long to rehire Dolph Ziggler. Teddy Long comes out and says he will rehire somebody. He rehires Kelly Kelly, who comes out and starts to beat up Vicky. Lay-Cool come out and make the save and start to beat down Kelly Kelly but TRISH STRATUS runs out and makes the save.
Match 4: WWE Championship: The Miz vs. Jerry Lawler
This seems like a match that is just here to give Jerry Lawler one last shot at a big event. Lawler looked great in this match but he was not going to win the title here. The Miz took the win cleanly with the Skull Crushing Finale in 12 minutes. The best part of the match was when Lawler launched Miz into Michael Cole, wiping out the announcer. Looks like The King won’t be getting his Wrestlemania moment.
Winner and Still Champion: The Miz
Match 5: WWE Elimination Chamber Match: RAW
The combatants in the Elimination Chamber match include Randy Orton, R-Truth, CM Punk, John Cena, Sheamus and John Morrison. The winner of the match gets the WWE Championship shot at Wrestlemania against The Miz. The first fall went when Sheamus pinned R-Truth. In a shock, CM Punk eliminates Randy Orton first. John Morrison eliminated Sheamus. CM Punk eliminated Morrison and, at the end, John Cena pinned CM Punk with the Attitude Adjustment.
Winner: John Cena
