It’s funny when you think about time and calendars. Our calendar is really a rather arbitrary, even contrary thing, given that my friend born on a Feb 29 doesn’t get a birthday every year. Even so, when the numbers line up, it can be a good time to consider how we can make sense of our lives in relation to the times in which we live.
What might be some ways to apply 1/11/11 to your yoga practice today?
- First principles: Do a yoga practice based on only the most basic poses, mountain pose, svasana (corpse pose), and reverse svasana (lying on your belly)
- Practice with attention and awareness on the first chakra, the root chakra (pelvis, sit bones, legs, feet).
- Do a pranayama practice where the length of your exhale and the length of your inhale takes the amount of time to say ‘one, eleven, eleven’, and then slow it down.
- Meditate on the number 1.
